Acquisitions

The Acquisitions team is responsible for identifying, sourcing and securing feature films, drama, comedy and factual series across our diverse portfolio of channels that include: Channel 5, 5USA, 5Star, 5Select, 5ACTION and Channel 5’s VOD streaming platform My5; as well as Pay TV brands, Comedy Central and MTV.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for opportunities that will complement our commissions and attract a broad audience to deliver strong ratings. The remit of the Acquisitions team includes pre-buying for scripted series and investing in factual co-productions.

Channel 5 – Event drama between 4-6 episodes; Feature films – blockbusters and modern classics; TV movies – thrillers and Christmas titles for our afternoon movie slots; Documentaries – accessible history, crime, blue light, access pieces, engineering and wildlife; High quality one off docs featuring ‘national treasures’ and high profile, relatable celebrities – think ABBA and Freddy Mercury.

5USA – Long-running glossy crime procedurals/case of the week scripted series, preferably with high volume that repeat well across multiple dayparts. Ideally from North America – think NCIS, Law and Order. 

5Star – Feature films, true crime docs and personality-driven access pieces. 

5Select – Accessible history, engineering, wildlife to support C5 secondary programming. 

5ACTION – Male skewing non-scripted programming to sit alongside the likes of Police Interceptors and Traffic cops; ‘War and Westerns’ and action packed feature films. 

My5 – Bingeable ‘New and Exclusive’ content for our My5 service. Multiple series preferable. 

Comedy Central – Broad and well-known stand-up comedy, panel shows, clip based series, high volume sitcoms and feature films. 

MTV – High volume reality, comedy and drama.
